Although my studies followed a more scientific path (yep, pharmacy school), I have never been able to resist the pull of creative expression. I could only see art all around me — in the emotions on my loved one’s faces, or the movement of flowers in the breeze. With photography, I could capture it authentically. It was my brother who showed me the ins and outs of my first camera in high school.
Then, there was my love and appreciation (okay, more like near obsession) for weddings. From the personalized touches to the joyous family reunions to the sentimental speeches, I wanted to feel immersed in every detail that contributes to the deep meaning of a wedding. This, paired with my inclination to create art, made wedding photography my perfect match.

There is a photo of my father and I together that is a prized possession of mine— taken while he was holding me in the hospital soon after I was born. Although I can’t remember the moment itself, I will never forget the meaning of the photograph. He has since passed away and I don’t have much memory of him, but it is because of this photograph that I am able to know him, however briefly.
This is the power of photography — the ability to capture the connections we have with each other, and then honor and remember it no matter how much time goes by.
