A Golden Hour Surprise: Proposal on the Georgetown Overlook
I could not wait to share Daniel and Sydney’s surprise engagement on the Georgetown Overlook Park.
I previously captured a fun mini-session with these two on South Congress in Austin, but Daniel wanted to plan something different for their engagement. He envisioned golden hour along the lake or a field where they could freely roam in a beautiful moment to themselves – well with me in tow, of course.
Daniel reached out a few months earlier and let me know that he was planning on proposing to Sydney. I was honored and ecstatic he chose to invite me back for this special occasion. Of course, we had to throw Sydney off because we wanted to make sure it was a surprise as much as possible. I gave Daniel a few options around Austin, but he ended up choosing a beautiful location at the Georgetown Overlook, which would be beautifully setting during golden hour.
Moments before they arrived, I gave Sydney instructions on how to find me by the rocks. Little did she know that Daniel knew exactly where to find me!
With the lake glistening behind them, I instructed Sydney to face out and admire the lake while Daniel reached down and wrangled the ring box out of his boots. As soon as he was ready, I asked her to turn around, where she found Daniel down on one knee! She was genuinely surprised and could not hold in her excitement. Her emotions were raw, beautiful, and completely overwhelming.
Sydney’s reaction was everything Daniel had hoped for in planning the proposal. He wanted complete shock, joy, and the love between them was undeniable. As the sun continued to set, it gave them a beautiful glow, which radiated from the inside as well.
Capturing moments like this reminds me of why I do what I do. We hiked back up to the field and captured a few more moments of fun as they basked in their newly engaged bliss. Cheers to Daniel and Sydney as they start their journey down the aisle!
