This is the power of photography — the ability to capture the connections we have with each other, and then honor and remember it no matter how much time goes by.
Okay I might be a little biased, but I truly believe Austin has one of the most beautiful spring seasons around. It’s that perfect mix of fields full of wildflowers and just the right amount of warmth in the air. It’s no wonder so many couples fall in love with the idea of saying “I do” here in the spring. And honestly? I don’t blame them.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels fresh, romantic, and full of color, spring in Austin just might be your perfect season. Here’s why.
Austin’s spring is absolutely bursting with color. You’ll find bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, and all kinds of wildflowers covering the hills and lining the roads. Whether you’re tying the knot at a hill country venue or taking portraits in one of the city’s green spaces, spring gives us a naturally stunning backdrop. It’s a photographer’s dream, but even more importantly it feels magical in person.
These blooms only last a short while, which makes spring weddings feel even more special. That limited window creates a once-in-a-year kind of magic.
One of the best parts about planning a spring wedding in Texas? Spring starts early here. While much of the country is still bundled up, we’re already enjoying soft sunshine and warmer days by late February.
If you choose a wedding date in late February or early March, you might even land in what’s considered “off-season” for many Austin wedding vendors. That can mean more availability, a more relaxed booking process, and in some cases it could mean lower venue rates. So not only are you getting dreamy weather, you may be able to stretch your budget a bit further.
Let’s be honest, Texas weather can be intense. Fall and spring are really the sweet spots when it comes to outdoor weddings here. November often brings rain and summers can be downright sweltering. Spring gives us that happy middle ground where you can plan for an outdoor ceremony or reception without sweating through your vows and you’re less likely to worry about backup plans for the rain.
If you’re hoping for sunshine, a cool breeze, and just enough warmth for guests to feel comfortable, your best window is March through early May. It’s a short season, but it’s one of the best.
If you’ve been leaning toward a lighter, more romantic color scheme spring is the perfect season. Pastels and soft, dreamy hues feel right at home here. Think light pinks, soft blues, lilacs, and creamy neutrals that blend beautifully with the natural surroundings. Your florals, fashion, and decor will look effortlessly elegant without ever feeling overdone.
Whether you’re just getting started or deep into wedding planning, I’d love to help you capture your day in a way that feels true to who you are. Spring weddings are some of my absolute favorites and I’d be honored to photograph yours.
